My awesome husband!!!!

Ok, so today was a good day - Matt & I slept in, he fixed the fog lights on my car, we had lunch and walked the mall and countless baby stores to try and encourage our little guy to get a move on and get out already! :) Anyways, last night we had rented a movie and Matt asked if I'd be so kind as to take it back since it was due tonight. So while he was working hard on the deck, I took it back, called him to make sure he didn't need any errands run while I was out & about - and so I came home... but I walked in and the house was different.

I heard baby music, which was a little eerie when you walk into a not-so-well-lit house, but I figured Matt was up to something so I yelled out "Ok this is creepy!" but then I saw this (our baby video monitor)...So I go to the nursery wondering what the heck is going on - and I didn't see anything - so I yelled again for Matt, then I looked down at the baby monitor and turned the screen on (oh yeah - the screen wasn't on at first, I just heard music through the monitor)... and then I saw a little box in the monitor - so I go into the nursery, again, and see this in the crib...

So I'm way excited, open up the brown box and see a little present inside (my favorite kind!!!) - well, I don't have any pictures of the pretty wrapping because it was gone in 5 seconds flat, but here's what was inside!!!

For a push present, Matt got me a 2nd wedding band - for the OTHER side of my wedding ring!!!!!!!!!!!! IT IS SO PRETTY!!! Here's a picture with the complete set! How much does my husband rock!!?!??!? I'm pretty motivated now for this kid to come out! Let's get this show on the road!

OK - So I just got on Facebook and saw that Mom was online - I had just called her to update her on the weekly doctor appointment, so I thought I'd harass her a little bit via Facebook chat... she told her on the phone that her & Katy were eating leftovers... so here is our conversation. I only made pumpkin whoopie pies, buttermilk cookies (6 doz) and 4 doz.little ones for Addison, some goop(Dar's recipe), addiction (in our church cookout-a finger snack), cinnamon rolls, chicken salad, boiled a chicken for chicken noodle soup, crust for a fruit pizza, salsa, my favorite peach schnapps drink......I don't know what else! I'm getting fat thinking about all the food I made!

Soooooooo... I've tweaked, organized, re-organized, re-organized again, did laundry, more laundry, organized and rearranged... but I think the baby room is finally ready!!! As the title suggests, all is here BUT the baby. We're hoping any day now, but I'll probably be late. Let's just pray it's not TOO late and the midwives will have mercy on my husband and I and will prod the little guy along - again, doubtful, but I can be a wishful thinker right?

Here's a tour of our nursery...

When you look in the room, this is what you see.

The glider is in the corner between the window (with new curtains!) & closet with cute shelf (thanks Kim!) for decoration!

On the wall opposite the closet, on the other side of the window is the crib and tall dresser. You can't see it in this picture, but you can in the first one - we have a phrase on the wall (thanks Mom!) that says "hush little baby". We have a picture frame to put under it when I finally get pictures for it and then that big blank wall space over the crib will be done after the baby comes... we have some plans for artwork, but we need the name first!! In the corner is our stash of diapers & the laundry basket!

On the wall with the door (opposite the window) is our dresser & hutch! All organized with my bins (yes Kim, I'm anal, get over it), a radio, all his books and topped with a bowling pin from his daddy... thanks Matt!

Well - that's our nursery! We just love it and it's so cute!! We can't wait for little "Peyton" to enjoy it! Any day now... we hope.

Mom is at the lake (poor thing right?!) and is so sad that all the blogs she checks aren't updated everyday. So Hi Mom! It was great chatting this morning and I hope you are happy I blogged :)

Ok, let me set the stage. Kim & Roger had us over for dinner - Kim felt like cooking and hey, we're moochers :) I was sitting there, minding my own business, eating yummy taco dip - my scoops tortilla chip was piled high... next thing you know, it's on the ground! I was laughing hysterically and Matt & Kim start rushing around trying to get napkins, baby wipes, etc. to clean up my mess... so Matt starts cleaning me up - because prego can't bend to the floor - and he starts laughing SO hard and said:

"If your body was a pinball machine, with that chip you would have broke some kind of a record!"

I had dip all down my front, on the front AND BACK of my jeans, all over the floor - and in the mean time I discovered a wad of ketchup on my WHITE tank top. Have you ever had these kind of prego days? I swear it's the shirt I was wearing... or maybe the fact that I only have 22 days left. Sheesh.

What's a guy gotta do to get blogged??!??!?!

Ok... so Matt asked tonight if I've blogged about his deck project lately... I told him no, but told him that I blogged about how I was feeling tonight instead! well - if you noticed the title, you'll see how he felt about that!! He thought it would be a great title for the deck blog - if I could keep myself from blogging about my feelings for a few minutes...

So here's to my husband... the amazing, talented, phenomenal, buff, motivated, loving and patient man who has been building such a great deck over the last few weeks! Here are a few pictures of where he started and where he is! For more deck photos, click here.

T minus 25 days

Hi! Ok, I'm over my funk from last week :) Thanks for reading about my whining. Good news - my foot is officially NOT swollen anymore (knock on wood!). A full weekend of nothing was what I needed - Ok maybe not NOTHING, I mean I sat by the Hawkins pool and slept in and even managed to squeeze in a bit of laundry in the last 2-1/2 days. :) Ever need a weekend like that? I sure did.

Then of course I got to thinking yesterday and today how much stuff we have yet to do before "Peyton" arrives that it freaks me out a little, but at this point, I figured you know what - how many people have had a first kid in the world? Everyone feels unprepared. So I'll keep working at it one day at a time up until he graces us with his presence and that's all I can do.

PS - Kim thought I should mention again that "Peyton" is our nickname for our little guy until he comes out and we officially name him. We're not telling anyone the real name - and no we haven't settled on one just yet! I can't make up my mind half the time on what shoes to wear in the morning, let alone settling on our baby's name this long in advance. We have a list, but that's all you get to know :) SO just in case when we have the little guy and he's not named Peyton - you won't think I've COMPLETELY lost my mind... although these days - would it really surprise you?

Parade & prego-ness

Ok - I figured I owe another post - but here's a spoiler: it's not going to be long. :) Last weekend I helped Aunt Cindy to plan the Jayco part of the parade - she did a great job taking the lead! Here are a few photos before we headed down main st. I was very happy to not be fully in charge of it this year - especially with this kid about to pop out of me! I happily rode in the truck with my hubby and ate my tootsie rolls :)

In other news - we had a doctor appointment today - tomorrow I am officially 36 WEEKS!!! You know - I think it's cruel for society to say that pregnancy is 9 months long because you know what - it's 40 weeks... 4 weeks in a month... that, in my mind, screams 10 MONTHS! Not cool. No one tells you this till you read your first prego book or go in for your first prego doctor visit. Ok - I'll be done with my little soap box for now...

The baby is doing well - the midwife thought he was around 6 or 6-1/2 pounds but could gain up to 2 more before the next 4 weeks are over. Joy! He'll be healthy... that's all that matters really. If you can't tell by my tone these last couple paragraphs - I am a bit on the done side of pregnancy - today was the first day of my ankles swelling - let's just say matt got a phone call and an earful about how ticked I was! :) I am really glad I married a patient, loving man! He has to put up with a lot of crap from me. I am also sick of peeing every 2 seconds, sore hands and finger joints among all the other ailments - I know I need to keep myself positive because this is a miracle and we're very blessed, but sometimes it just wears me out.

Baby shower!!!

Yesterday my wonderful sister Kim and awesome Aunt Cindy threw me a baby shower!!! I was pumped because if you know me... you can imagine how much I was itching to go BABY SHOPPING!!! It's hard to restrain, but overall I've done an OK job - heck, I went to the Michigan City outlets and only came home with a few outfits!

I was so excited, family and friends showed up and we all got to celebrate little baby "Peyton" and his arrival in less than 6 weeks!!! Matt & I cannot wait and we feel so much more prepared now that some of his drawers are full and things are getting crossed off our lists... we feel so blessed to have such a great family to surround us during this and all the other events in our lives! Jen & Sarah - my two best girlfriends (and roommates for a few semesters) from Butler even made the drive to come up! I was so excited to see them... we don't get to be together very often, but when we do, we always pick up where we left off and then some! I love them and was so excited they could make it!
